2021 Scholarship Requirements

2021 Application Guidelines / Criteria

The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 803’s intent is to award this scholarship(s) to a student not just on the basis of academic achievement but on his or her being a rounded person: i.e. involved in school activities, involved in community activities, and possibly also being able to work in a part-time capacity.
Amount - one scholarship - one thousand dollars ($1,000.00)


•    To be distributed five hundred dollars ($500.00) June of 2020 and five hundred dollars ($500.00) at the successful completion of first semester and enrollment in the second semester of post-high school education.
Eligibility:
•    Any student who resides in Chemung County and is graduating from a High School (Home School / GED) and attending an accredited Trade School, College, or University.
•    Any senior graduating from a High School located in Chemung County in 2021 and attending an accredited Trade School, College, or University.

•    The applicant should set up at least a one (1) hour tour of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 803 Museum and attend it.  This can be set up through contacting the Vietnam Veterans’ Museum at 607 737-2760;

•    Essay should also be saved and attached in same e-mail as the application.  Essay should be saved with same word document name except for “essay” in place of “application”.  email to: commzod@yahoo.com

•    The applicant should complete the application, electronically sign, and save it as Last Name First Initial Middle Initial Date “VVA Scholarship 2020:
•    ie.kamascf042219vvascholarshipapplication.doc”. 

•    Mail signed application, with essay, and certified transcript to:

•    Application should be postmarked no later than May 24 2020, and e-mail sent with the electronic version of application and essay sent no later than June 8, 2021.

•    Successful applicant will be notified by e-mail no later than June 10,  2021.
